Earlier this year I directed a fast-paced farce version of
War & Peace,
a follow up to Wuthering Heights at Hurrican Speed at 53Two Manchester.
A longer piece combining many classic novels is currently in development.
(You can watch the whole 15 minute play here)
“Joyce Branagh does a sterling job…It’s an
unapologetically giddy, good-natured piece, and a splendid way to conclude
another terrific JB Shorts” Kevin Bourke, MANCHESTER THEATRE AWARDS
“Joyce
Branagh directs at breakneck speed this hilarious, superbly performed
evening finale that leaves the audience breathless.”
David Chadderton, BRITISH THEATRE GUIDE
"a
breakneck romp through Wuthering Heights – a feast of high farce, quick
changes and glorious overacting. It’s a riotous end to an evening whose
enormous stylistic range showcases what theatre can do." THE INDEPENDENT
Recently I directed a new immersive play -
... and the
world premiere of The Ruck, by Kevin Fegan about a Girls' rugby team a co-production - Lawrence Batley Theatre,

"Joyce Branagh is a very visual director, creating a whole host of memorable images..." THE STAGE
"Joyce Branagh directs with energy and a lightness of touch" BRITISH THEATRE GUIDE
I love directing Shakespeare and particularly enjoyed Measure for Measure , a site-specific promenade production at the historic
Lancaster Castle.
"...the 1950s setting ensures even the Bard has never had it so good. The
play gets "All Shook Up", as well as half a dozen other pop classics,
in a production that honours the subversive nature of the story, but
never lets up on having a good time...one of Shakespeare’s ‘problem’ plays but there are no difficulties apparent in director Joyce Branagh’s smooth stroll through this promenade production."

and directed the hugely enjoyable
"a spectacular, brilliant production of the comedy directed by Joyce Branagh. The young ensemble from Britain that she has assembled is superb and
Branagh directs them without any of the usual alienation and updating
so common nowdays" KRONEN ZEITUNG
"Much charm and slapstick about nothing on the carousel of love.
Enormous fun..." KURIER
