Joyce Branagh - Writer & Director

I have been directing professionally since 1995 with theatre companies throughout the UK and Ireland including Bristol Old Vic, Cork Opera House, Harrogate Theatre Royal, Orange Tree Richmond, Tivoli Dublin, Watford Palace Theatre, Oldham Coliseum, Lawrence Batley Huddersfield and VIenna's English Theatre.

I specialise in directing Shakespeare, and new writing - and especially comedy.

This summer I will be directing another large scale Shakespeare play (more information TBA) and will be returning to the Lawrence Batley Theatre for their 2019 Christmas production.

For the past 14 years I have also been writing plays including commissions from Watford Palace Theatre, South Hill Park, & Forest Forge Theatre Company.

I have had 2 plays selected and produced for the Manchester 24:7 theatre Festival, as well as writing and directing a short film.

'Boomtown Gals' my latest play was nominated for 2 Manchester theatre awards and won 'Best Fring Performance'.

I am currently writing and developing a new comedy called
Ladies That Bus for a tour in Spring 2020.  It was developed from community interviews with the support of The Dukes Lancaster, Theatre by the Lake and Brewery Arts Kendal.
